What is Yoga ?
Yoga is an ancient technique that date back more than 5000 years. The word “Yoga” is from a Sanskrit word “Yuj”, it means “to join or yoke together”. It’s about combining a person’s own consciousness with the universal consciousness.
Ancient Yogis believe that Yoga are able to make your life more healty and have a long life. To achive this, there are three main things to do : Exercise, Breathing and Meditation [ Three Main Structures ].
The Exercises, Yoga Exercises are able to stimulate the abdominal organs, improve the circulation in your body and can put pressure of the glandular system of the body. This Exercises can increase the efficiency of your body, resulting a better health.
The Breathing, the basic concept is that Breath is the source of life in your body. By controling your breath, it can improve your health and preparing yoru minds for the next step, the Meditation.
The Exercise and Breathing, are to prepare your body and mind for Meditation. People tend to says that in Meditation your mind must go blank. The truth is that it doesnt have to be like that. You just have to focus your mind, resulting a Quiet Mind. It can relieve you from everyday stress.
By doing the Exercise, Breathing Techniques and Meditation, Yoga make our body become healthy and our mind to be clear.

There are Six Type of Yoga
- Hatha Yoga or Yoga of PosturesIt is the most known type of yoga, people practice yoga by using the physical movement and postures, and using the breathing techniques. It is the path that most people choose, to achive a healthy body and mind.
- Bhakti Yoga or Yoga of Devotion Bhakti Yoga is followed by a lot of people in India. The practice of extreme devotion in one-pointed concentration upon one’s concept of God.
- Raja Yoga or Yoga of Self-Control Raja means “royal”. It incorporates exercise and breathing practice with meditation and study, producing a well-rounded individual. Raja Yoga is based on the teachings of the Eight Limbs of Yoga found in the Yoga sutras.
- Jnana Yoga – Yoga of the Mind The path of wisdom. It deals with the mind, and as such, it focuses on man’s intelligence. it is considered the most difficult path.
- Karma Yoga – Yoga of Service The path of service. It is believed that your present situation is based on your past actions.
- Tantra Yoga or Yoga of Rituals A lot of people tend to misunderstood this path. Tantra Yoga is about using rituals to experience what is sacred. Although sex is a part of it, it is not all about that. The purpose is to find what is sacred in everything we do. Even though there are sex position for Yoga in Tantra Yoga.
Yoga is not a religion, it is like a techniques to find spirituality, gaining a healthy body and mind. Yoga is not all about practice, it also effect your spiritual growth. It focus on your physical, mental and spiritual aspect.
